Zwetsloot rounds out Knights squad

The Melbourne Knights Football Club are excited to announce the latest signing ahead of the 2021 season, Trevor Zwetsloot.

The 21-year-old enhances the Knights’ midfield stock, arriving from German fourth-tier side, Werder Bremen II.

Zwetsloot’s short career so far has seen him play in three different continents; Oceania, North America and Europe.

The midfielder began his career at 15 in his home country of New Zealand, playing for profession side East Coast Bays in their Mens senior team, before leaving for the USA in 2016.

In the USA, Zwetsloot represented IMG Soccer Academy in Florida, before being transferred for free to the Werder Bremen under-19’s.

During his time in Germany, not only was he promoted to the Werder Bremen reserves in 2018, but that promotion also earned himself a spot in the New Zealand under-20 squad.

While playing with the New Zealand under-20’s, he played 7 matches, scoring once. Zwetsloot was also lucky enough to represent New Zealand in the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

On his arrival at the club, Zwetsloot mentioned, “I’m really excited to be here. I’m looking forward to playing in front of our fans and getting some good results in the process.”

He continued, “I really like the style of football that the coaching staff and players are looking to implement this season.”

“The team has been very welcoming and I’m excited to get out there and start playing.”

Everyone at the Melbourne Knights welcomes Trevor to the club and is eager to see him playing for the Knights in season 2021.
