The Melbourne Knights Football Club are pleased to announce yet another signing ahead of the 2021 season, Mohammad Sumaoro.
The 24-year-old will add depth to the Knights midfield, coming from NPL South Australian side, Adelaide Raiders.
The midfielder will reconnect with another season 2021 recruit from the Adelaide Raiders, Alun Webb.
During his senior career, Sumaoro has played for three separate clubs in the NPL South Australian league, including the Raiders.
In season 2017, he played at the Croydon Kings before transferring to Para Hill for seasons 2018 and 2019.
Sumaoro was included on the Adelaide Raiders list for season 2020. The season was delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, however the Raiders still managed to qualify for the finals, only to be knocked out by Sumaoro’s former club Croydon Kings, in the first week.
Sumaoro showed promise during his time in the NPL South Australia, playing a total of 12 matches – in return for 12 goals.
On his arrival, Sumaoro stated, “I have been playing in South Australia for the past five years and I wanted a new challenge.”
He continued, “the main reason I decided to put pen to paper with the Knights was because of the club culture.”
“The Knights have similar values as the Raiders and because of that it was an easy decision.”
“At the Knights we’re a family, we win and lose together,” he declared.
Everyone at the Melbourne Knights welcomes Mohammad to the club and can’t wait to see him in season 2021.
